  • Old Masterkeyboard-Question

    Hello friends,

I know that it was discussed before but anyhow I still did not find an answer to the famous question:

WHICH KEYBOARD IS RECOMMENDED FOR VSL?

I own a Doepfer MKII which is getting old and wonder which one gives me access to the Felicity but has great Keys ...

I have been having the same problem.  I have never used a Midi Keyboard Controller and don't know where to start.  I tried using a Native Instruments A61 KB Controller, but as of today am returning it.  (A tech support person spent almost 4 hours with me today (after 10 days struggling on my own), trying to get any key to trigger a VSL sound. And we both agreed it was never going to happen.  I also made the mistake of buying a Yamaha PSRE373 61-Key Touch Sensitive Portable Keyboard, but this will not be suitable for large VSL libraries. I will be returning both keyboards  tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Andreas sent the following suggestion to my Forum Post on this subject.

Just a quick heads up: This is a user forum and not an official support channel. If you have issues with your instruments, it's best to drop us an email at support@vsl.co.at, and we are happy to help! 😊

I don't have any issues with VSL instruments per se, but if I understand correctly, these questions are best sent to VSL Support , and not posted in the General & Hardware section of the Forum.

That is what i will be doing tonight, and if I get some useable advice (which has nearly always been my experience with VSL over many years), I will share it in my Thread.

Meanwhile, good luck ... they are marvelous libraries.

  • Hi @jdw - no, this question is perfectly placed here. Because there is no "best" keyboard for VSL. Asking other people for their opinions is certainly a good way to make a choice - because it ultimately comes down to preference.

The issue you are referring to explicitly is a different story. Native Instrument keyboards work perfectly fine with VSL products. We even just released a whole bunch of new NKS Packages for owners of VSL libraries. Tackling local issues of a user system is best dealt with in support tickets rather than a general user forum discussion.

    Best,
    Andreas
