  • VSL Options on the Mac....?

I just want to see if I have this straight...as a Mac user (currently running Pro Edition on Giga on a PC), if I want to run Pro Edition, is it true I only have one option....to use Logic?

Is there any point in getting Kontakt instead?

    Thanks
    Tom

  • Meh! Yo can use Kontact .. but you'd be eating up valuble Ram and CPU cycles to run the program outside of Logic. The beauty of running EXS is that it's fully integrated into Logic, ... and if I read the forum posts right .. can actually use more of the systems memory than GIGA can at present.

But yes your only real choice is Logic. I'm a cubase user myself, so it wasn't easy for me to accept the change. I even wrote recently to Apple request some cubase style features for logic ... who knows! ... but my point is is that I have adpated to Logic well and find it now very easy to work with.

You cann use Cubase and Kontact on the mac quite effectively ... but Logic offers the premium amount of VSL performance.

  • and...AFAIK, only the horizon series stuff is available for kontakt. If you use logic, the world is your oyster.

  • Yes, it looks like LOGIC is the answer.

    Thanks folks...

  • Also It's worth noting that EXS can convert GIGA format. I don't know to what degree it would retain the perrformance integrity, but I'm sure someone else here has already tried it. So maybe you would try converting your exsisting samples rather than buying them again, with the EXS converter.

    Just a thought.
