Dear forists,
the idea of recreating the Piazzolla-Tango “Oblivion” in the version by Jay Bacal (linked here: https://www.vsl.co.at/de/Music) with VSL-Samples has been appealing to me for some time – and now it's finished, my remix.
Specifically, I have...
- made a transcription of the violin and cello part (according to Bacal it is a double bass)
- copied the double bass (upright bass) part from the MIDI file linked above
- reworked the presumably four-handed piano setting for two hands
- all parts notated with SIBELIUS and instrumented with VSL-Samples (SYzd Solo Strings, SYzd Upright Bass, SY Piano Bösendorfer Imperial)
- all exported as a MIDI file, then imported into LOGIC
- especially dynamics (CC11/expression), tempo and attack (CC22) designed according to my ideas
- and finally exported two MP3 files: one from the imaginary sound space of LOGIC and one - with MIR PRO 3D - from the virtual space of the Berlin Teldex Studio

Aside from the pure enjoyment I've had, my current goal is to learn by imitation. I would therefore be happy to hear your ideas, suggestions and criticism.

schon einige Zeit reizt mich der Gedanke, den auf der VSL-Seite verlinkten Piazzolla-Tango „Oblivion“ in der Fassung von Jay Bacal (https://www.vsl.co.at/de/Music) mit VSL-Samples nachzubauen – und nun ist er fertig, mein Remix.
Im Einzelnen habe ich …
- die Violin- und Cello-Stimme (lt. Bacal ist es ein Kontrabass) abgehört
- die Kontrabass-Stimme aus der oben verlinkten MIDI-Datei kopiert
- den vermutlich vierhändigen Klaviersatz für zwei Hände umgearbeitet
- alle Stimmen mit SIBELIUS notiert und mit VSL-Samples instrumentiert (SYzd Solo Strings, SYzd Upright Bass, SY Piano Bösendorfer Imperial)
- alles als MIDI-Datei exportiert, dann in LOGIC importiert
- dort insbesondere Dynamik (CC11/Expression), Tempo und Einschwingzeit (CC22/Attack) nach meinen Vorstellungen gestaltet
– und schließlich zwei MP3-Dateien exportiert: eine aus dem imaginären Ton-Raum von LOGIC und eine – mit MIR PRO 3D – aus dem virtuellen Raum des Berliner Teldex Studio

Neben dem reinen Vergnügen, das ich dabei hatte, ist mein derzeitiges Ziel das Lernen durch Nachahmung. Über eure Ideen, Anregungen und Kritik würde ich mich deshalb freuen.
