  • Synchron Player Build 1.3.734 and samples loading

    Hello,

Curious to know if anybody else has had a similar issue with Synchron Player Build 1.3.734.

First, the context. I have a VEP7 project comprising a large instance in which several string instruments of different collections are defined:

    • 10 Synchron players playing Synchronized Special Editions Orchestra strings (vlns, vls, celli, basses)
    • 8 Synchron players playing Synchron Strings 1 orchestra strings (vlns, vls, celli, basses)
    • 4 Synchron players playing Synchronized Special Edition Solo strings (vlns, vls, celli, basses)
    • 5 Synchron players playing Synchronized Special Edition Chamber strings (vlns, vls, celli, basses)
    • 7 Synchron players playing Synchron Elite Strings (vlns, vls, celli, basses)

Other instances define wind, brass and percussion instruments. All sameples are loaded from SSDs (at 4096 buffersize). The PC is a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700 2.10 GHz with 128GB ram running Windows 11.

Now, the issue. The Synchron players, up to Build 1.3.636, have always been able to load this data in a jiffy. Build 1.3.734, however, hangs consistently while loading (stops on Synchron Strings 1 samples).

I used Vienna assistant  (show archive -> install/download) to roll back to Build 1.3.636 and I'm now back in business. But this is only a temporary solution...

I wonder what has changed in version 1.3.734 that could cause Synchron Player to hang while loading samples?

  • Hello Gilles,

    Same issue with my project.

With build 636, 59 seconds, with build 734 3 minutes and 59 seconds.
Once loaded, everything seems to work as usual...

I sent a ticket (case 505166) to VSL Support this morning about that.

Glad to see that I am not alone...

Unfortunately for me, I have to keep the build 734 because I have purchased the "Duality Strings" which needs the build 734 to be loaded correctly.

  • Hello again,

VSL team sent me feedback as they are able to reproduce the issue.
So, they are working on it...

Let's wait for the next Synchron Player update.

  • Hi Eric

Glad you tuned in - I too was wondering if I was imagining things.

You found that the load time has almost quadrupled. Duality strings samples are about half the total size of Synchron strings 1's. So perhaps I should expect 8 times longer loads, but I'm not getting past Vlns1. Which is why I'm wondering about the load buffer sizes...

In any case, please keep us posted on the outcome of case 505166.

    Tks

    Gil

  • I think this is the first time I've ever uninstalled the current program and stepped back a version. The loading time difference is definitely there.

As an aside, I searched for the "rollback" feature, and I even word-searched the Vienna Assistant manual. I saw no mention of it, nor could I find it in the interface. Is there a direct rollback function in Vienna Assistant? Where?

Instead, I manually uninstalled the current version and re-installed the previous one, which worked well.

  • In VA, click on the 3 dots, and choose Show Archive

  • Thanks Bill. When I said I did it manually, that's what I did. For some reason, I was looking for a button or menu item for a feature called "Rollback."

    I appreciate your response.

  • Hi VSL,

Any update on this issue, I have the same problem.

  • Hi all!

Is everyone affected by this working with MIR by any chance?

  • Yes,

For me it is Cubase 12( Windows 11), Synchron players as instrument, using the MIR vst3 plugin as fx insert. Some projects won't load at all, they just get to a certain point and stop. Going back to a previous version of the Synchron player fixes this issue.

  • Hello Andreas,

I do work with Vienna MIR Pro (but not the latest Vienna Mir Pro 3D).

Should I try and remove MIR Pro, restore Build 1.3.734 and re-attempt the loading - just to test out your hypothesis?

  • Hello,

The Synchron Player version 1.3.810, available via Vienna Assistant, solved this problem with my configuration.

Thanks to the Developpers Team for their kind and efficient support.
