Hi Everyone.
I spent a day Setting up a test Project in Cubase 12 on my M1 MacbookPro 16 with a desire to utilise many Audio channels from an instance of VEPro7 that is running on my Windows PC (i9 20 virtual Processors, 128 GB RAM).
Setting up many Audio channels in the PC VEPro7 was easy.
Setting up Cubase 12 on the same PC was easy and could connect to over 100 Audio Channels per Instance in VEPro7. No Prob. Saving and closing that Cubase Project - all good. Saving the VEPro7 Server - All Good, no problem.
Leaving the VEPro Server open on the PC, I went to my M1 MacbookPro 16 and opened Cubase 12.
Added a Rack Instrument - Selected VEPro - Connected to my instance that is open and running on my PC. All Good, no problem.
Went to Activate Outputs in the VEPro Rack Instrument and there are only 32 Audio Channels available (16 x 2 Stereo) instead of the expected over 100.
Enabled all of those 16 x 2.
Went back to the VEProServer Instance and it had been reduced to just the 32 (16 x 2) Audio Outputs Channels and removing the Output Channels in the VEPro Server Mixer.
So, effectively reduing the capity of my VEProServer to 32 Audio Channels per instance.
Conclusion; VEPro Plugin running in Rosetta in Cubase on M1 is limited to 32 Audio Channels. Can you confirm this limitation please.
Further:- I went back to the Windows PC and confirmed that Cubase on that, could connect to 100 Audio Channels and more in VEProlServer once the VEPProServer Output settings were restored to over 100 and the Mixer re-setup to do so. (A lot of work).
I Hope this is of assistance to others as I have found very little regardin this limitaiton of Audio Channels in Rosetta other than a mention of this behaviouor inside Logic back in 2020.
VEPro is the best, but this limitation is a blocker in the M1 space at the moment.
Regards.
