  • VE Pro 7 crashes when adding several Kontakt VST3

    Hi,

VE Pro crashes every time when I add more than one Kontakt VST3 plugin into the VE instance. It doesn't happen with the VST2 version of the plugin. I believe this bag was introduced with the latest update (Apple silicon foundation).

I'm trying to move my orchestral template to VST3 but am unable to do it.

    Will appreciate any suggestions.

  • Hi!

Please send details about software versions, OS, reproduction steps as well as the crash report to support@vsl.co.at - thank you!

    Kind regards,
    Andreas

  • I send the same bug report.
I found a workaround that works here:
start a new Kontakt 7 vst3 channel, then start a Synchron Player channel, then again a Kontakt 7 vst3 channel, then a Synchron Player channel and so on. After that, you can delete the Synchron Player channels, if you don't need them.
When you need several Kontakt vst3 instances, you can make one Kontakt 7 vst3 channel and one Synchron Player channel, select them and duplicate them as much as you want. After that select the Synchron Player channels and delete them at once.
As I said: here it works (I work on a Windows computer), perhaps it works with you?

NB: With Vienna Instruments Pro instead of Synchron Player this trick doesn't work here.

@MMKA : I love you ! Your workaround save me tons of VEP crashes ! I hope vienna team is working on a real solution !

  • @MMKA Seems to work the same here. I still am not able to find a real solution anywhere on the web.

  • I tested it a new. I looks to me, that it is less stable now then a few updates of Kontakt 7 and VEPro ago. There was a moment that the problem seemed to be solved. But now it not okay anymore, I'm afraid.
Fortunately, the work around still works.

  • I do remember this case. Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce this issue at all on my Windows 11 machine. A colleague re-produced such a crash behavior with Kontakt 7.8 (Beta RC2) on his Mac - and analyzing those crashes showed that they all were "pure virtual call" crashes inside of Kontakt. We informed Native Instruments.

  • I have to specify things a little bit. I tested it on a Windows 10 pc when I wrote my message. There was the problem. After my message I tested it on the Windows 11 pc, the problem didn't occur there
