  • Dorico 5 and VSL Expression Maps

    Hi!

I just installed Dorico 5 and all the VSL expression maps disappeared; I tried to download and reinstall them but no results.

    Any solution?

    Andrea

  • I had the exact same Problem. What I did was to export an existing expression map to the "defaultLibraryAdditions" folder. Then they all appeared... lucky accident

    found it

    copy defaultLibraryAdditions from

    Hd/user/yourname/library/applicationsupport/steinberg/dorico 4

    to

    Hd/user/yourname/library/applicationsupport/steinberg/dorico 5 folder

    it works 😊

  • Excellent! Thanks!

  • Hi all,

We will have to update the "VSL for Dorico" installer. As reported by users, the "DefaultLibraryAdditions" folder is not automatically copied over when installing Dorico 5.

macOS: Macintosh HD > Users > *YourUserName* > Library > Application Support > Steinberg > Dorico 4 > Default Library Additions
    Win: System (C:) > Users > *YourUserName* > Roaming > Steinberg > Dorico 4 > PlaybackTemplateSpecs

Copy that folder into the path for Dorico 5 manually.

Careful: The User Library folder & Appdata folder are hidden by default.

    Best regards,
    Andreas

  • Hello!

The latest version of the VSL for Dorico Installer now also installs our Expression Maps and Playback Templates to the Dorico 5 folder. It's available in the Vienna Assistant under Additionals/Notation.

    Best regards,
    Andi

    Hello Andi

    Thank you very much.

Are all VI Expression Maps also installed in Dorico 5 ?

Can you use MIR PRO 3D with Dorico ?

    Best Regards

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril!

We have made Dorico expression maps for many of our Synchron and SYNCHRON-ized libraries, but not for our VI libraries. Symphonic Riot offers Dorico expression maps for our VI libraries though.

MIR Pro 3D can be used with Dorico.

    Best regards,
    Andi

    Hello Andy

I am disappointed of your answer.

You have to pay 150€ for Symphonic Riot

It is not fare for your clients that has spend over 10 000 $ buy your VI libs😢

I thought you could use Cubase Expression Maps you made ! can't you include them in the installation for Dorico 5

You did not answer about MIR PRO 3D

    Best Regards

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril!

Our Vienna Instruments collections have been made long before Dorico existed. Please understand that we will not create Dorico expression maps for these libraries - especially when another company has already done that.

I did answer your question about MIR Pro 3D.

    Best regards,
    Andi

    Hello Andi,

    Sorry for MIR PRO !

Can you use you Cubase expression Maps in Dorico ?

I have bought quite a lot of Synchro instrument and tried to do a mix using Mir using the 99.. I return to the VI instrument.

I think you have fool MirPro users not saying to them that they did not need to get Synchron instrument if you use MIR PRO

    Best Regards

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril!

It is possible to convert Cubase expression maps with Dorico, but they don't work 1:1.

We don't fool anyone. That's not our policy.

    Andi

    Hello

Did you ever send me a mail saying ?

"As an owner of all the VI you own and MIR PRO, you do not need to buy the Synchron series"

I remember seeing post saying that you could use VSL for Cubase Expression Maps in Dorico😢

    Best

    Cyril

  • Hello Cyril!

I have never seen any company writing to their customers that they don't need a specific product. Apart from that, upgrades from Vienna Instruments to SYNCHRON-ized libraries are really inexpensive and you get the library content in a powerful modern player. So these upgrades are useful for users with MIR Pro (3D) too. Furthermore we offer Dorico expression maps for lots of our SYNCHRON-ized libraries. There you have another benefit.

Your quote about Cubase expression maps is not from us. We have never said that. I will close this thread now, because your series of allegations doesn't lead anywhere and has nothing to do with the topic.

    Best regards,
    Andi
