    hello,

    when you use altiverb, the volume change when you put a track more far.
    So, do you let the change , do you push the track volume fader or do you turn the altiverb output button ?

    (or do you let the change and mix whith each group on a different bus to equilibrate the master group by group? string/wind/brass/drums ?

    If you are compensating for volume changes *within* altiverb, I would compensate with the volume control within altiverb, to get your balance.

    If it's a static position - i.e. you're not going to move it in the mix - I think you just follow the usual commonsense rule: everything within it's "nominal" range.

    So if the fader has to go to +6 to get enough level in Altiverb, lower it to 0 and raise the gain inside Altiverb. Conversely, if the fader is at -40 and Altiverb is all the way up, something's wrong there too.

    Agreed Nick, and of course that's common sense, I think he was asking more along the lines of "if I change the position in altiverb and this causes the overall volume from altiverb to drop should I correct the volume with the fader or with the volume within altiverb, I think in that case, I would correct within altiverb as I said, although common sense and what you just mentioned prevail over that of course.
