  • VSL Tutorial is he worst tutorial made

After thinking that buying the tutorial would actually help me work out the alternation and repetition tools so I could actually integrate them in some work, I'm very disappointed.

You should really take a look at how Native Instruments and Spectrasonics put together there tutroials for Absynth 3 and Stylus RMX.

I suggest step by step instruction on how to use every function. Walk people through it. Cover loading the samples to how you're going to use it if you're 80 bars into your score/project. It's as if you expect people to know your termanalogy. On the other handif they did, they wouldn't need to buy the tutorial.

The repetition makes no sense to me. I know that I'm not alone.

Actually, for as much as I've paid for this product a well made tutorial should be free!

  • this was my biggest gripe with that DVD too... it should be free! .. there's no way it should cost what it costs..

i sold mine on, tried to recoup some of my losses LOL ... maybe you should do the same [;)]

VSL .. fabbest samples on the planet .. not so hot in the tutorial department

  • Definatly. First of all to make you pay for it, although its pretty darn cheap, is kinda scrooge-y.

Secondly, it's not even that good. It really should be step-by-step. And a serious tutorial woudln't cover just the perf tool, it should give any user, scrolling through his list of patches trying to pick the ones best for a melody line, assistance.

Using this vastly comprehensive sample library, with hundreds and hundreds of patches, is like starting off with a blank piece of paper: people need a little help to get going, and something to reference to when things get hard.

note: I too have seen it.

  • I can't re-sell it. No one will understand it. Hence, I'll have to give their money back.

Got it for 35 EUR, I agree 100%.

    China.

  • I hate to complain, but I suppose I'm inclined to agree. A simple tutorial, where they guide you step by step and show you how to put together a simple 12 bar phrase using each performance tool or something might be nice. The problem I see with that is that there are so many different ways to accomplish the same thing and it all really depends on your personal methods which develop with time and experience. But I suppose a tutorial of either the simplest or most common method would be nice.

  • Did you ever think that it should be more practical to make a tutorial for a next version of VSL ? (see another thread for details)

  • I hate to be the sole disenting voice in this post [:P] , but I found the tutorials to be very helpful.

Of course there were unclear moments. I agree with that. But I just took a pen and pad of paper and took notes. That helped tremendously.

  • anyone want to sell me theirs? [:)]
