  • Windows 10 ilok Issue

    Hi -

I have just switched to ilok.  I'm on Windows 10 and I have updated all the software and samples to ilok versions.  I have also installed and reinstalled the Vienna Assistant.

    Here is my issue:
When I select a preset in Syncron Piano made with the previous elicenser based software I get this message and then no preset loads.

"VSL Helper - This application failed to start because no QT platform plugin can be initialized."

I get this same message and nothing loads when trying to open up old sessions and cubase track presets that were saved using the older versions.  Basically, the conversion that is supposed to happen with the Vienna Assistant does not seem to be working.  Any one had this problem?

Funnily enough, I have this exact same issue 18 months later after updating the VI samples from eLicensor to iLok; my custom presets made using the eLicensor samples give the above error when attempting to load using the iLok presets.

Would be an absolute pain to have to reconstruct all of the presets again - did anyone find a way to convert custom presets from eLicensor to iLok?

Edit: This is using the VI Player by the way (not Synchron), though it seems to be a universal issue between either player.

  • Posting an update to help others with the same issue (as I just ran into the issue again and forgot how I solved it previously).

This issue occurs when you update Vienna Synchron Player to the latest version (currently v1.3.2079). This affected the other VSL player I had installed, but had not updated (Vienna Instruments Pro v2.6.110).

Updating Vienna Instruments Pro to its latest version does not solve the issue itself (v2.7.157).

However, if you update Vienna Instruments Pro to v2.7.157, restart your machine, and then update (downdate?) Vienna Instruments Pro back to v2.6.110 (show archive in Vienna Assistant to see prior version install options), the issue resolves itself.

Hope that helps anyone else with this issue - enjoy your presets again!
