  • Vienna Ens Pro, Kontakt & Ableton: Multicanal Midi connect

    • Windows 10
    • Ableton Live Suite 11
    • Vienna Ensemble Pro 7
    • Native Instruments Kontakt 7

Hello, I have just purchased Vienna Ensemble Pro 7.

I would like to bring your attention to a situation that I encounter with this Kontakt 7 program from Native Instruments and Ableton Live Suite 11.

When I load Kontakt in an instance under Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (VEPS) and I load several third-party banks in a row in Kontakt:

    1. Bank 1 (midi port 1) (ex: cinesample - picolo)
    2. Bank 2 (midi port 2) (ex: spitfire audio - flute)
    3. Bank 3 (noon port 3) (...)

    etc

It is then impossible for me, from my DAW (Ableton Live) to play the banks "bank2, bank3 etc" from a midi channel configured to send midi data to VEPS.

I don't know how to make the "MIDI" links between my Kontakt plugin, the VEPS instance and Ableton to communicate with several midi ports from a single Kontakt plugin.

Can you help me ? THANKS

  • In the video above, starting at 4:25, it is explained that if you are using "multi-timbral" instruments like Kontakt then in the Vienna Ensemble Pro preferences, "default midi Channel" should be on "all" .

Maybe a track to follow to correct my problem, I will try and report back!

  • Indeed, now it works. It was so simple!
