  • [SOLVED] New MIR3D update breaks older MIR Pro projects in Nuendo/Cubase

    Using Nuendo and MIR 3D,

I was opening and working with older projects earlier today made with MIR Pro (2D).

After some time I decided to download the update available for MIR3D.

Now these same projects will not load. MIR3D asks to "Select a Venue" and Nuendo hangs while loading.

It is stuck on loading channel 1 (obviously stuck on initiating a MIR instance).

I can't get back into the project files now. The update has locked me out.

    Nuendo 12.0.52

    Windows 10 Pro

  • As a first step please make sure that you have indeed downloaded and installed (!) MIR 3D's own RoomPacks. Legacy MIR Pro RoomPacks won't do! - The Vienna Assistant application could be helpful here.

Now please open MIR 3D's main application in stand-alone mode (without starting Nuendo or any other host), open its Preferences and make sure that the path to these MIR 3D Venues is entered correctly. Try to open one of the installed Venues now.

If this works like expected, a Nuendo Project using legacy MIR Pro should open correctly, too, provided that the respective Venues are available.

Please let us know if this helped.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

    I need to be clearer.

I was not updating from Mir Pro to MIR3D,

I was updating MIR3D to the newest version (which MIR alerted me to today).

The projects I was working on earlier today were working fine in MIR3D until I installed the update.

My (MIR3D) Roompacks and paths were already in working order.

  • So just to make sure that I get that right: You can't open projects that contained legacy MIR Pro any longer, or does MIR 3D not work at all after the update?

The former. It seems that projects already made in or converted to MIR3D will open fine. Projects created in legacy MIR Pro are not.

  • Hi,

I just re-opened several projects in Nuendo 12.0.50 under Windows 10 Pro that were created with legacy MIR Pro, using the plug-in version of MIR 3D's most recent officially released software build. They all open without a hint of a problem.

I also enquired with the VSL software engineers about possible pitfalls, but they assured me that none of the relevant parts of the software had been changed recently.

Please send an exemplary project that exhibits the issue to support@vsl.co.at with reference to this thread. VSL's support team will look at it ASAP.

    Kind regards,

So today I decided to uninstall and reinstall MIR 3D and after doing so the projects from legacy MIR Pro now open properly.

Something must have happened during the update install that wasn't working.

Anyway, back to work now and thanks for checking out the issue 😊

  • Thanks for the info - I'll mark the thread as "solved".

    Enjoy MIR 3D!
