  • VE Pro 7 32-bit plug-in host discontinued after iLok migration

    Hello,

    Just an FYI, that I found it exceedingly disappointing that VSL appears to have discontinued the additional 32-bit windows server VST host option after 7.1.x ilok migration. I see no Windows ilok version, Via Vienna assistant that also supports 32-bit plugins as before.

    It's so surprising that that I still can't believe it and think I may have missed something in ilok/Vienna assistant install process.  That there HAS to be a way to run 32-bit plug-ins as we were able to previously. Apologies if I've missed the additional 32-bit VST server/host option somehow in Vienna assistant.

    If its really true that the parallel 32-bit plug-in host/server app has been removed for iLok I have more questions:

    Doesn't VSL know that many of us continued to use VE Pro, and continued to upgrade, for the sole reason that we could also host our old personal libraries of 32-bit plugins and still use 64-bit DAWS in client/server mode? This was one of the continued selling points for me.

    Most importantly, why isn't there a prominent warning about this in your iLok transition documents and presentations?

    I'm hoping that I can roll back and still use the older 64-bit and 32-bit elicenser server versions now.

    UPDATE: I was able to uninstall all of the VSL iLok 7.1x software and reinstall an old 7.0.x Steinberg elicenser version which installs both 64-bit and 32-bit windows servers. This gets me back to running both 32-bit and 64-bit VSTs in parallel now on Windows now. This does mean that I'll be running version 7.0x until it no longer is compatible with Windows and MacOS.

    Robert

  • The 32-bit version is installed for me. Maybe it just installed to a location you're not expecting...

  • Hi Bill,

    I tried the Windows Vienna assistant installation two more times. Not seeing the 32-bit server installed anywhere at the moment. In fact when I install the 7.1.x version it deletes the old 7.0.x 32-bit VE Pro folder and all contents. It only installs the 64-bit server in C:\Program Files

    The old 7.0.x 32-bit server used to be additionally installed in C:\Program Files (x86). That gets completely deleted during the 7.1.x install. At least for me it does.

    For the 4th time I'm back on elicenser version 7.0.1120 now and I think I'll stay there until I'm ready to say goodbye to my older 32-bit VSTs.

  • Hi Robert,

    It appears that it doesn't install the 32bit version by default, but in the VA you'll see a little drop down arrow to the right of the Install button. From that you can choose download to get the manual installation file, where there is the 32bit option.

    It could be in my case that setting was preserved, as I'm not using the standard file location.

  • I checked v7.1.1406 installer but there are no 32bit server inside.
    There is 32bit client, but there are no server.

    I'm really being upset by this situation.
    Once my USB-eLicenser is broken, I cannot use 32bit VEP anymore.
    I'm not even sure about the compatibility between iLok version and eLicenser version.

    32bit server is advertised as a main feature of VEP7 and that is the reason why I purchased.

    Quote from the old VEP7 official ad
    ```
    Existing Features
    Windows only: Dual architecture servers – Run 64-bit and 32-bit Vienna Ensemble Pro Servers side-by-side on the same computer and integrate 32-bit 3rd party instruments into your 64-bit DAW and vice versa.
    ```

    I really hope they continue supporting 32bit version as far as VEP stays version 7.
    As far as I know, no other VST Hosts drop 32bit version in 1 major version.

  • Hi,

    Any update on this one?

    I am having the same problem after switching to iLok. No 32bit server installed, and the old one is gone. VA installs only the 64bit server.

    Is it now official, that the 32bit server is discontinued?

    Thank you.

  • Thank you, Ben. Is it possible (and advisable?) to use the older version's 32 bit server and the new iLok version's 64 bit server simultaneaously?

  • This is no longer possible with VEP 7, sorry.

    Hello,

    the bitter truth is that even 32bit client plugins (AAX32, VST2, VST3) do not work on all iLok Vepro7 versions. The 32bit client plugin versions are installed by installer, but they do not work because the supporting files in the C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder are missing. Client plugins show in 32bit DAW, but won't load with error message about missing components.

    I've contacted support several times, but unfortunately they don't listen.

    This means Vepro7 iLok is 64bit client to 64bit server only.

    I'm using ProTools HD10 (32bit DAW) and 32 bit AAX32 client plugin to connect to 64bit Vepro server and use 64bit VSTi plugins. I had to revert to elicencer version.

    Regards,

    Suad

    @Suad

    Here you go - those files should do it for your situation.

    Download "veproshared32.zip"

    Download "Servus_vepro.zip"

    Please kindly note that we do no longer offer support for 32-bit setups.

    Best,
    Andreas
