Thanks for your response. A few people have said "why don't you continue with the organ bit" I will get around to it eventually. Unfortunately this is all spare time stuff for me at the moment instead of full time which I wish it was. Is it good or bad to sound like library music? I suppose I don't know what I was going for - I suppose that's a good way to make library music!? Thanks again.

I like the organ groove at the end but wasn't expecting it. My favorite part is the minimalist direction it was going in before the organ and drums came in. It would be interesting to hear it continue in that Reich-isg direction for five to ten minutes (really). Nice arrangement. very tight sound.

The opening has such a light, vibrant feel to it which I felt could have been extended further - really nice. The drums/organ didn't really work for me after that, it changes the feel too much, too quickly.

I would extend both sections into seperate pieces or mixes - perfect library fodder (not a bad thing!) [[;)]]

yea, dude you have some chops. I assume that's you playing the orgran right? I love that stuff. If you are wanting to do film music big changes if appropriate to the scene is where it's at so I disagree that its to big of a change and it works very well. The drum loop itself is a bit weird sounding sounds a bit thin basicly. the loud articulation on the french horn stacatos in the beggingn is a bit out of place in my opinon though. they are just doubling so I'd leave em out. then you just have strings + instead of orchestra + when you really aren't using the rest of the orchestra.

I agree this is good work. My only criticism is maybe making it less perfectly rhythmically with the strings? But I am obsessed with dirtying things up, so that may not be valid.

Wow great replies, thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate it all points taken well. magates: yes me on the organ. The big change was intentional and I've had mixed feelings from people I've played it to as well as having mixed feelings myself. I agree about the drum loop, that's a bit of a weak effort, I'll do something else with that or change it somehow. I'll listen about the french horns: I like french horns a lot maybe I've used them imappropriately here one question when you say strings + instead of orchestra + you mean I should use more of the orchestra in the background with the strings or? sorry can you elaborate on that a bit?

william regarding the strings I think that's just how I played it in no quantisation, sometimes I use quantisation to line up other parts with a played part but not usually to a set grid and even then I reduce the quantisation strength - what does everyone think of this technique by the way? Where you play and then align your other parts to your favourite played part? I know what you mean, it sounds a little wooden, hmmm have to think about that.

taking some of your comments into consideration I expanded on the second peice. I think it's all gone to hell [*-)] but whatever here it is the mix got complicated because I didnt' do it all in one go, and I ended up having to limit the final section because it was getting too loud, I wish logic had 32bit audio so I could mix it like that and drop the final volume down anyway my bad. so comments? I don't know I went with this I suppose it was more for fun and don't ask me what this music is supposed to be for... I don't know. thanks for listening!

unquantized the stac strings at the start, left the entire original organ solo in, beefed up the drum loop, took out the french horns forte at the beginning made them mf

[H] Very cool Miklos, very cool. Groovy. Especially the second part sounds like it is the lead-in music for a tv series.

Only the end of it doesn't feel like it belongs to the piece. Almost like it goes from a funky action mode for live action into frenzied cartoon mode...
