  • [SOLVED] Sibelius 8.7 slur issues

    Hello

I have Sibelius 8.7, VI Special Edition 1-4 / 1-2 Plus and MIR Pro 24.

In Sibelius I created a blank score page. Then I chose Vienna Symphonic Library House Style and added Solo Violin (x2), Solo Viola, Solo Cello and Solo Contrabass. In Playback Devices I activated Vienna Ensemble with Sound- Set VE Special Edition PLUS. Then I used Manual Sound-Set and added the specific instruments as mentioned before. In Vienna Ensemble I chose Vienna Konzerthaus Mozartsaal v2 and the according Vienna Instruments Sibelius Special Edition 6.0 SE + Vol.1 Solo strings Presets.

In the score I have tempo 56 and in the passage a 4/4 bar followed by a 11/8. The slur goes from the Half note in the second half of the 4/4 to the Half note in the 11/8 and ends with the double-dotted half note. It is notated for Solo Violin/Viola/Cello/Contrabass. In the playback the sound cuts before it should. That's my issue.

I really hope my post is understandable and I am genuinely grateful for any help.

    Best regards, Hans-Peter

  • Hello Hans-Peter!

Solo Strings are not looped. Solo string players can't play endless notes, but have to make bow changes for long notes. That's exactly how the long notes for our Solo Strings library behave. If the note should be played longer than what can be done with the bow, you can retrigger the note. This way a bow change repetition sample gets triggered.

  • Hello Andi!

Thank you so much for your quick help!

I didn't think of the real instruments factor, but of course your approach makes sense.

I decided to stick with the Solo Strings, they sound best for this particular piece. But I have to use the Sibelius Inspector Playback Editing function extensively, something I didn't do before, but it delivers solid results so far.

    Best regards,

    and

    Schöne Grüße nach Wien,

    Hans-Peter
