  • Does VSL pubish a list of recommended SSDs?

    Hello,

I've been having a ton of issues with swapping over to iLok.  One thing that I was told by the VSL tech was to make sure that my SSD was formatted correctly. I am not running the VSL libraries on SSDs. I have plenty of SSDs both internally and externally but I never put my VSL libraries on an SSD. I just went looking to see if VSL has a published list of recommended SSDs - I could not find one. Am I missing something? If they are asking us users to run their libraries on an SSD I think they should recommend a few so we have a place to begin our search. So, does one exist that I just cannot find? Thanks.

  • Hi rosindabow,

We don't publish hardware lists, ever.

This business is changing really quickly and there are lots of hardware reviews for hardware, the list will be outdated within weeks.

The best SSDs are also the most expensive ones, but the main factor is always the random reading speed for any streaming purposes - and of course the speed of the data connection is essential!

Personally, I found the ADATA SX8200 Pro 2TB a very good option for my setup. It is an M.2 drive with very fast random performance, at around 200 EUR for 2TB. Good enough for my purposes and internal testing for sure.

But of course Samsung, Crucial, Corsair, Seagate or Western Digital drives are also great, and they come in many variations.

    Best,
    Paul
