  • Vienna Instrument Library Locations & Vienna Assistant

I was able to download all of my libraries just fine using Vienna Assistant. I chose a different location than the installation of the libraries, and now Vienna Ensemble Pro Server seems to be having problems locating them. What is the default location for these files on macOS Monterey?

Am I correct to assume Vienna Instruments Pro is built into the latest Vienna Ensemble Pro iLok version?

  • You can still look it up in Directory Manager. I have libraries installed on three drives incl. the internal. I don't know about a default location. Vienna Assistant will be set to the last location you set in it.

Vienna Instruments Pro and VE Pro are two separate applications. Vienna Instruments basic used to be installed with Vienna Ensemble not-pro, but I haven't kept up.

  • in the new system there is no Vienna Instruments but the Pro version, which appears under Sample Players while the VE applications appear under Software.

So in VA just click install on anything and directly below the Install button are your download and installation directories used last.

Excuse me but this is SO confusing.

Where to install the libraries so that they don't take up space on internal drive?

    Download location: external hard drive

Default library location: external hard drive ?

That's the configuration? Or should we leave the default library location on the system? If so, will it take up space on the internal system drive?

    Thanks a lot
