  • Question regarding Solo Strings

    Hi

I've ordered Solo Strings (not yet delivered) and I came across a thread on the Northern Sound Forums where someone claims that the Solo Violin has a vibrato on the open G string.

Although I suppose this can be corrected by inserting a non-vibrato sustain note where the open G string is needed, it still raises the question whether it is chromatically sampled or not.

I know it's been said that Opus 1/2 aren't chromatically sampled (allowing more instruments to be loaded), but is true for the other Horizon products (like Solo Strings for example) as well?

    Cheers

    Rodney

  • open string is used in the non vibrato patches,
in the vibrato patches the lowest fingered note (g#) is streched to g

  • Hi, that was me on the NS forum…

I have to say again, what a strange decision. Vibrato on the G totally pegs the sound as being artificial. Yes, it’s mostly chromatically sampled otherwise.

I think bringing in the non-vibrato sustain won’t do. It has a very different ambience, spatial placement, attack, and has 1 less velocity layer.
