    Hello Free Fujara Flute!

I’m happy to announce our next library: A Fujara flute, sampled with highest attention to detail and multiple mics - and the best part: it’s FREE for everyone!

There is no USB-key requirement - you can choose between iLok USB key and/or machine activation (2 activations included; no Cloud option for free instruments).

    Get yours right here!

If you don't have it yet, get the free Big Bang Orchestra from here!

New to VSL and/or iLok? Here are step-by-step instructions, guiding you through the entire process!

    Enjoy!!

    Paul

  • Thank you very much, Paul and the Team! It is a great proof of what you can do with instruments out of your usual ones.

At the same time, it is such an archaic voice, that will invite us, in this old continent, to do a step back and think about ourselves.

    Paolo

  • Hi Paul,

The Vienna Assistant shows that Fujara is installed and iLok manager shows the license is active on my iLok. But I don't see the Fujara instrument in my Synchron player (v2063). Will it have its own heading under Factory? I don't see it under any of the collections either. I thought I had followed all of the steps. Did I miss something?

  • It's in HELLO FREE INSTRUMENTS!!!!1!

Thanks for the free sheep bassoon!

A very lovely and sumptuous gift, thank you so much, VSL. And many thanks to Veronika Vitazkova for breathing such beautifully expressive life into this sample library - I especially love her vibrato.

    • Veronika's YouTube Channel:

    • A very special live performance by Veronika in 2021:

Improvisation: Veronika Vitazkova - fujara, Luca Rullo - computer

    • And something hopefully inspirational enough to tempt PaoloT to try overtone singing himself, lol. Well hey, seriously, what better way to get deeply familiar with the partial series, Paolo?

I've learnt overtone singing some thirty years ago. But there is always something to learn, when you are a musician.

  • thanks :)

  • Paul,

at first I read your "2 activations included" literally. But after using VA to download and install it I wondered why the new library didn't show up in Synchron Player. (Yes I'm a dummy when it comes to admin procedures.)

So then I went through the 'old' procedure, i.e. purchase license (for free in this case) then activate license - though now of course using iLok License Manager. And hey presto! All good!

I wonder if others who reported here not seeing their new library in Synchron Player, also took that wording "2 activations included" literally.

Maybe it would help to change the wording to "2 activations available" or something similar?

  • Make sure you have the latest Synchron Player installed (1.2.112 or newer).

CAUTION: If you are still using eLicenser based library you have to reinstall these libraries from the Vienna Assistant in order to use these. You can't use eLicenser and iLok based Synchron libraries at the same time.

  • Hi Ben,

I have Synchron player 1.1.2063. That seems to be the current version. Is there a 1.2 already?

I understand that I should see a "HELLO FREE INSTRUMENTS" group under Factory but it is not there. (others have reported this too)

This is my first VSL iLok library. I have not started converting my VSL libraries to iLok yet. I need to order a new drive so I can have both eLicenser and iLok libs available for as long as it takes me to open and save several hundred Logic projects.

Are you saying that I won't be able to use the Free Fujara Flute until after I have converted all my eL libs to iLok?

    Thanks!

  • PaoloT, Good for you! Yet again you amaze me with your accomplishments! I too am permanently a student. As I've always said, I'll have stopped learning when they nail down the lid on my coffin. (But I think I'll skip trying to learn overtone singing, lol. I've already spent about 8 years getting familiar with the partial series and JI in other ways.)

I agree, VSL's fujara is another fine cause for more learning. For me, Slovakian folk melodies for fujara open a very interesting window on modal use of JI in Europe.

    Hi cug,

You need the iLok protected Synchron Player software to use the Fujara Flute.

Which in turn means that you need to upgrade your existing eLicenser sample content to the iLok protected content (if you have not done that yet).

Here are a few thoughts about transition strategies.

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks Paul! The transition strategy video was just what I needed to get the ball rolling. I've started my transition.

    Cheers,

  • Am I correct that if I want to write a playable piece using the free Fujara flute I can only use the notes in the scale of G or A? However I assume the instrument has a means to change the tuning from G to A which is probably not possible while playing. So only one scale at the time is possible.

That would mean that all other notes sounding on the virtual instrument are electronically transposed.
