  • iLok - why no machine based licensing?

I am very disappointed that there is apparently no way to activate a machine based iLok license for my VSL lib's.

    Why?

Otherwise we are forced to buy an ilok Dongle plus ZDT or are forced to stay connected to the internet while using a library. I personally don't appreciate both options to be honest....

Machine based iLok licensing would be so much more convinient.

    Please add this!

Being a loyal customer that pays for licenses feels sometimes more like a punishment than being appreciated by VSL....

  • Thanks for the helpful reply.

Being "discussed to dead" or not, i still find it very disappointing.

    It actually sucks bigtime.

I don't think a reason has ever been given by VSL why they don't allow machine activation.

Is machine activation not as secure as Cloud/dongle? What's the reason why. I'm not saying we're entitled to a reason, but I am curious why it's not an option and I think the original poster is also.

  • Yes, that's the reason. Machine activation can be cracked. Cloud / dongle is more secure.

Machine-based licensing simply doesn't offer enough protection. There's nothing else to it.

With a highly demanding production process like ours, we simply cannot afford to be hacked.

  • Thank you. I must of missed that or forgot I read it.
