  • how to manual assignment of articulations and effects

    Hello, after a few years break I am starting again. I do everything the old fashioned way, by hand. Meaning, I compose like I used to and notate my composition. (So the modernization is only done by the notation program. In my case Finale) So I don't use a keyboard!!! For better playback I also have logic pro.
    I have purchased the Synchronized_Package/Synchronized_Plucked_Instruments. Everything installed everything works. The classical guitar sounds already at least kind of similar (although very hard) But.......!!!!!!!!
    My question: How can I assign an effect like pizz, golpe, flageolet or something else to a note in Logic?
    Previously, in the Event Editor in Logic, before the corresponding note to which I wanted to assign an effect, either by a Program change or Controller, I could assign this particular effect. I had a" list" where I knew that for example: the number 12 is a "pizz" and 38 is a "golpe".
    How do I do that in the Vienna Synchronized_Plucked_Instruments??????????????????????
    I think it's a great pity that you can't get a manual. I can't find a manual either.
    Maybe someone can tell me in simple sentences
    -Go to the desired note (or note series) in Logic, add a program change or something else in the Event Editor in Logic and do......
    That would be a real big help.

  • 1st, there is certainly a manual. Up at the top toolbar under the "Support" tab, More... and scroll down to Synchronized... Plucked instruments.

    Most of us use keyswitches for articulations. There may not be any program change support, I doubt there is.

    Thrre are additionally tree dimensions where [vertically] one articulation may crossfade to another, types of vibrato for instance; and the typical assignment here is a CC. I use the ones I have in controller lane presets, for more than one thing (CC20 I use for a slot crossfade in VI Pro and for one of the crossfade controllers in Synchron. CC1 is an obvious one, mod wheel). 

    It's pretty apparent in the interface of Synchron Player, look under Control and there'll be defaults and your opportunity to create the control command as you like. I copy an extant control setup and paste into a new instance, directly under the Control tab by right-click.


  • It is a huge work to program all yourself in Logic especially because most VSL libraries have more than 3 levels of key switches which Logic cannot do in simple way. The way to do it is more a Logic topic than VSL. You will find the Articulation Set editor in the Logic inspector last point under Track.

    There are several not too expensive vendors which offer Logic articulations set for every library you can think of. I use Art Conductor.


  • How convoluted can it be? They're note-ons. 

    The version of Logic I have actually opened up and thought I was going to use, v8, would only show one controller lane at a time, so it was more work than I wanted to do in that sense.

    Hi Anton

    I do not own the Synchronized guitar. But I assume that the articulations are switched with basically also with "keyswitches", as with other libraries.

    In Logic there must be a window called Piano-Roll-Board or similar (on the left there is a piano keyboard and the notes are drawn as bars. The longer a note, the longer the bar (horizontally). In this window, you can easily set the note that selects the desired articulation with the mouse just before the corresponding note is played. If you want to change the articulation often, this is a bit of work. But for musical results one always had to invest a lot of time to activate all the right controls over the samples.  Here is a video on the subject:
