  • New Guy Question: MISSING GIGS?

I have the Performance set only - in the Performance Tool's manual on page 22 it describes loading "01 Violin Ensemble - 14". Then it says open the "00 VL-14 Basic_Set.gig" etc.

All I've got is a Legato gig and a bunch of PERF gigs and RUNS on my DVD
Nos 20-32. When loading the 20VL-14PERF-LEGATO.gig into gigastudio I do get "BASIC COMBINATIONS" which is nothing but a description.

Am I missing something or what?

  • Hello Miamimarks,

If you only have the Performance Set, you don't miss anything.
The gigfile labeling starts at number 20 for the performance set.
1 - 19 are reserved for the Orchestral Cube.

I just want to describe our labeling scheme using the word "BASIC":

On the Orchestral cube you have for all instruments "BASIC-SET" gigfiles.
These gigfiles are compilations of other gigfiles out of the Orchestral Cube.
These enables a mapping scheme where you get the most important playing techniques controllable with keyswitches.

In the gigfiles you have different categories like: basic instruments, combinations, release triggers.
In this case "BASIC INSTRUMENTS" means, that you can load an instrument where you don't have any controller functions like keyswitch, modwheel, release triggers.

On the Performance set you find the label "BASIC COMBINATIONS", it's a pendant to the "BASIC INSTRUMENTS", but the difference is, here are keyswitches mapped, bu´t you don't controll the instrument with these keyswitches, the performance tool does it. That's why we called it "BASIC COMBINATIONS".

    best wishes
    Herb

  • Wow - 1st post from a newbie and Numero Uno gives me the come back!

I thought that something like that was going on; yet the manual was a little vague on the performance/alternation tool's reference [or lack of].

The Cube is hopefully on it's way here from ILIO soon. I think more pieces of the puzzle will fit once I get it.

So how many computers do you have to run VSL?
