  • How to balance the dynamic level between the different grupps of instruments

    Hi!

I'm a beginner to work with MIRPro and RoomPack 1 (Vienna Konzerthaus, Grosse  Sal) but. I want to know how you do with the balance between the different groups of instruments? I am working with Finale and have set it's output volume equal over all. Then I distributed the instruments according to a ordinary orchestral sitting on the stage and having the microphone on the conductor's place. When I start to play a piece on which I working on, I have to find a middle way of setting the output volume/balance. But after a while I have to change all over again. So my question: - are there some easier way to obtain balance (f.i. a forte in the woodwinds is equal to mezzoforte in the brass etc.)?

All the best and a Merry Christmas to you all!

  • Hi Anders,

as long as you're only using Vienna Instruments, MIR Pro's "Natural Volume" feature is meant to give you meaningful starting points for all of them. Give it a try!

Sidenote: You will notice that the overall volume of your orchestra is quite low when using Natural Volume. The purpose of this is to leave enough headroom for the loudest instruments. Simply increase the Master Volume of your mix then, or use MIR Pro's "Selection Group" feature to increase the individual volume of all deployed instruments simultaneously.
