  • Harry Gregson-Williams telling his own story

Truth-telling is for me the 'Dom Pérignon' of social and interpersonal discourse. Harry G-W is one of the truth-tellers.

If you haven't already seen this wonderful 23 minute YT video of Harry describing his long journey as a film composer, I'd say you're in for a treat:-

Creative Cribs - Harry Gregson Williams

As an unapologetic VSL partisan, I'm not in the least dismayed that this video was produced by Spitfire Audio. I happen to believe that VSL's Synchron libraries are winning favour among the cognoscenti and will continue to do so. Here's why: Dr. Werner von Braun (who, btw, originally wanted to become a composer) taught NASA the necessity of combining conservative and progressive approaches in innovating; VSL also have that essential winning synthesis.

(BTW, if I was well acquainted with Harry and spoke with him now, I'd want to pull his leg something awful about his latest film score in which he shovels on masses of JXL-style in-your-face drums - "Oh yes, Harry, really bang up to date and totally original, Lolol". Cuz actually I'd be very curious to know how he feels about his new-found and very uncharacteristic - almost Zimmer-like - 'brash commercial vulgarity'! A far cry from the distinctly decorous days of his Narnia.)
