  • Mixer preset behavior

I am finding that, if I create a custom mixer preset, I can successfully save it to the mixer preset menu but it is ONLY visible when I access the instrument preset from which I created it.  Otherwise it is invisible. Is that true? I have only created a custom mixer preset while working on a custom instrument preset. I can make the mixer preset appear if I save it seperately but, again, it only appears in the menu when I am using the custom instrument prest where I created it. This is a good thing so I can cycle through other mixer resets for my custom instrument preset, but it is surprising that the custom mixer preset s unavailable in any other isntrument presets, even in closely related families.

If anyone can confirm all of this, i would appreciate it. I want to improve my understanding of mixer presets and what flexibility I have.

    Hi ViennaUser1,

Mixer Presets are indeed saved with the preset by design. The reason for this is that our mixer setups are quite different, and channel assignments would be mixed up when applying a mixer preset from, e.g., Synchron FX Strings, to Synchron Strings Pro.

There is a workaround: You can save your mixer presets individually if you use the load/save options directly in the mixer tab, which lets you organize your mixer presets in your own data structure.

That's what I did but the preset disappears...see the following:

When I save mixer preset directly in the mixer tab (disk icon, dialogue box "please enter a new mixer preset name"), the new mixer preset appears in the mixer preset list. However, it only appears when I am using the EXACT instrument preset which I was using when I created the mixer preset. Yes, I can access all the other mixer presets along with my new preset. BUT the new mixer preset VASNISHES if I open any other instrument preset. It reappears in the mixer preset list ONLY when I use the exact same sychron preset that I used when I created it.

So, as far as I can see, the workaround is not working. What am I miisunderstanding? If possible, can you give me a step by step process? I believe I am doing exactly as you said...creating the preset under the mixer tab. But that mixer preset is NOT appearing when I open any other instrument, even a related instrument. Now...I have been using a custom instrument preset, I don't know if that matters. You are saying I should be seeing that mixer preset is ALWAYS in the list? As i said, i saved the mxer preset seperately and answered "no" to the "save custom preset now"...because I only wanted to save the properly named mixer preset

  • Hi,

Use the "Save settings to disk" / "Load settings from disk", then it will work.

The procedure you suggested worked. However the name of the mixer preset does not update to the name of the recalled preset. To explain:

    1. I saved a preset to disk, named mmDeccaTrumpet1

    2. I opened a different Synchron strument  (Horn 1 VelXF) with a different mixer preset "Clasic room mix"

    3. I recalled "mmDeccaTrumpet1" from disk and the preset successfully appeared on the mixing board .  But the name of the preset did not change.  The preset name remained as "Horn 1 - Classic Room Mix"

  • Hi,

    That's true.
