    Ok I have listened to all the demos and I am not convinced that this Library will enable me to decide when I will apply vibrato to a flute, violin, english horn etc. If I have to change Midi channels or patches to apply vibrato then this is redundant. I notice that you have patches that have a progressive vibrato. Well that’s great but I tried your Piccolo Trumpet with progressive vibrato and it did not work as the part needed the vibrato to come in earlier than it did. I am suggesting that you will need to set up crossfade non vibrato to vibrato solo instruments and ensembles. I am sure you can find a whiz sound engineer who can do this w/o phasing problems. Think about it.

    Also, I am hearing great licks and runs but I am worried about what I am NOT hearing and that is a real sweet cantabile style solo playing especially the Flute and Oboe. Solo Sordino Violin? I am not hearing it yet.

    Also, I find your Brass to be too Classical and not really ‘Punchy’ Hollywood Sound Track type of sound. Where is the 6 Piece French Horn Ensemble? Where are the Woodwind Ensembles? How will the Harp sit in the Mix? How quiet is it? How many velocity levels? Arpeggios?

    Have you checked out what other Sample Libraries are doing these days i.e. Garritan, Dean Brass Ensembles, Sonic Implants? Do you feel that your Library is sonically superior to these? Have you studied and learned from them? There is some incredible art here already.

    There is no doubt that I will purchase the Vienna Library. It’s just that the expectations are high and I have a few doubts.

    We do believe, that the Vienna Symphonic Library certainly comes up to our demands in terms of authenticity (you´ve heard the demos) and flexibility (look at the Performance Set, that gives you new possibilities through intelligent mapping and additional MIDI-Tools). Listen to our sounds, and please judge yourself, whether our library is sonically superior to others. Anyway we are the Orchestral Sample Library with the most comprehensive recording schedule (1.5 Mio. Samples).

    Which brings me to the next point concerning different group sizes, playing techniques etc.: We´re getting started right now, there´s so much more to come, we set our priorities to cover the instruments that seem most important to us right now.

    My expectations are very high for VSL. But, I also share the same concerns with Bruce. Although I agree your demos sound good, they don't detract from these concerns. I know ,from working with other Orch Libraries, I often program them to play what they can make sound real, rather than what they should play, Thus comprimising the arrangement. I think crossfade virbrato and dynamics are essential to emotional performances. I would gladly trade a little bit of phase for this kind of nuence. Besides, on sections it's not so much an issue. I think in the long run you'll get a million e-mails from people asking for this once they have the VSL. whether were all crazy or not, it's gonna happen. I hardly ever use the crossfade patches on Advanced orchestra because they cross over funny, but that doesn't negate the whole concept. Break the mold and solve the problems. Oh, and don't forget to include the answer to the universe in the cube. While your at it the meaning
    of life.
