    Hi,

    I'm quite new to these libraries so I'm just backing up and archiving right now and installing to make sure it is done correctly.

    As I've updated to vienna ensemble pro 7 the epic orchestra 2 is given for free (thanks)__and I've downloaded the whole library and backed it all up.

    It has been installed on a test drive and there was a very small update which I've installed into the appropriate folder.

    The little update has an extra folder with two files in for the update

    EpicOrch2_01_Update01.vysnvolume & 

    EpicOrch2_21_DimBrassII_Update01.vsynvolume

    >>>> Is it necessary and correct to put these two files in with all the other files (minus the extra yellow folder)

    Hi!

    As long as the path is added to the Synchron Player's configuration everything should work just fine.
    If you moved the folder after installation you have to manually re-assign the location : https://www.vsl.info/tutorials/faqs/libraries#sample-management-sy

    Hi,

    The initial library (test) had a .package file that was installed - the library was then installed in specified folder which i forget the name of.

    I noticed there was a very small update with its own .package file for the downloader and installer - this was then installed within the "specified" folder but within the "specified folder" was "another folder" with the update in which contained only one or two files named similar to update and I forget the .extension at the end of the file name.

    My question was along the lines of - Do I cut the "update" files and place them in the "specified" folder as in the initial installation or do I just leave them as they are as per the .package update

    I know its a little confusing (sorry) but I've got my head round everything else so just a little discussion on this as it left me confused a little - Thanks

    Hi, 

    You can do both:

    1) More comfortable: Leave the files where they are, they have been added to the respective path, so that the Synchron Player will find it. 

    2) You can move the new files over to the main sample content, if you like (the folder will automatically be scanned, and newer files will overrule older files.

    Thanks - That could  be best to leave the files as they are and have an extra folder.

    I don't know if it was the synchron player or the vienna instruments - (doesn't matter maybe).

    I just got a little confused and pondered whether there was a "user" action required.

    Fictitious example below based on the confusion:

    So if the library was called PIANO (just for argument) and the library was installed in a folder called PIANO everything is easy to understand.

    Then there is an update PIANO UPDATE (for argument) but the update is so small it can hardly be an update unless it is fixing a bug ! ? - 

    So, the PIANO UPDATE is installed in the PIANO folder but the PIANO UPDATE has a folder of its own with two files in but all the main files are contained in the PIANO folder.

    You've answered the confusion by stating the PIANO UPDATE folder would scanned and the files within would be used whilst other files would be ignored as per the update.

    If this works it'll be best just to let the EXTRA folder be created for the update within a folder containing the main library.

    Sorry for being so long winded about a "trivial matter" but I've gone to lengths to ensure the downloads for VSL libraries are going into the correct folders for archive etc.... and it needs to be done right !
