I am asking for help from anyone who has discovered how to use the Vienna Library WITH Note Performer successfully.
Any help would be very, very much appreciated!

The answer is yes, you can, but I would post this question on the Dorico forum. The solution has nothing to do with VSL and everything to do with Dorico Playback Templates. No time to explain now, besides there are people on the Dorico forum much better than I to explain it.
Thank you. Yes, John Baron from Dorico responded:
I would start with the NotePerformer playback template and then manually assign the woodwinds but make sure you also add the VSL expression maps. Or make a new playback template from the NotePerformer one that uses the VSL template for the woodwinds
