I remember seeing a few posts here about some older plugins that don't work properly in VEPro. I myself ran into this problem with Steinberg Virtual Guitarist/Bassist VSTi's. Call me old fashioned, but I'm just not ready to give up on excellent instruments like these. 32Lives! kept them alive for a little while, but with the introduction of macOS Catalina, I had to face an impossible choice: my beloved VSTi's or the latest version of LPX. As a temporary workaround, up until today, I was using Sonar/Cakewalk on my Windows PC to host the plugins and Dante software to stream audio from one computer to another via Ethernet. This, however, posed a whole bouquet of problems, syncing issues, audible latency and having to bounce in real time being the most annoying. After a series of epic failures, I seem to have finally found a couple of solutions. I wouldn't call them elegant by any stretch of the imagination, but who cares if they get the job done, right?
I've just found out that FL Studio can be used as a VST plugin. I personally couldn't manage to register the 64-bit version with VEPro (maybe I'm doing something wrong), but the 32-bit version loads just fine, and that's good enough for me. I've tried both VG and VB in Bridged mode, and it works great. The trial version of FL has certain limitations, so I have to manually reload VSTi's every time the project opens, but that's a minor inconvenience compared to what I had to deal with in the past. Besides, FL looks and feels really nice, so I may end up buying it anyway, to replace Cakewalk, which is great and free but somewhat "coarse" and buggy, to my taste.
Alternatively, I stumbled upon something called ReWire VST by energyXT. Haven't tried it yet, but based on what I've seen on YouTube, it does a great job making Reason work with VEPro Server.
