  • Last versions for Win 7

I'm still running a Win 7 slave PC. I asked support if they could tell me the last version of VE Pro, Vienna Instruments and Synchron player that will work with this system and the correct manual versions.  They couldn't.  All I got from them was a link to the download archive.  Is it just me or does that seem a pretty lame response?  I've asked similar questions of other software manufacturers and they've all (even Waves) come back with a specific version and build.  Given that each release will have a system requirements spec I would have thought this would be an easy question to answer.

If anyone does know I'd be grateful for the info.  I have no intention of iteratively downloading and trying everything from the last few years that VSL have issued.

  • Welcome to the forum matandasun,

So I checked your conversation with our support team, and they wrote that all our latest software should work fine on Win 7.

Having said that, Win 7 is not supported officially anymore and we are not testing on Win 7 systems.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thank you Paul.  The first response I had was:

ou can find the manuals here:

    https://www.vsl.info/en/manuals/

And our download archive for legacy versions here:

    https://www.vsl.co.at/Downloads_Archive

Microsoft has dropped Windows 7 support more then a year ago:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-7-support-ended-on-january-14-2020-b75d4580-2cc7-895a-2c9c-1466d9a53962

Since we don't do any testing anymore, you will have to try installers and see if they work.

When I complained that this wasn't specific enough I got this:

To our knowledge, the latest Versions should still work - but we really don't know and we are not testing them under Windows 7 (which has been replaced by its successor almost 10 (!) years ago).

Any version from before Jan 2020 will work.

Neither response indicates that all software will definitely work with Win 7  - had I been told that from the start, I wouldn't have come on here to voice my frustration.
