  • Just purchased VSL Solo Strings!

Well, after struggling with myself between purchasing either VSL Solo Strings or Woodwind Ensembles, I went ahead with the Solo Strings. I have Opus 1, so I think I'll be able to blend the strings in each library together to create some interesting textures. I had to grab another harddrive for samples, since this collection is pretty large (30GB!)

Does anyone here have some success stories with the library? I'd like to hear them. [:)]
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Well... not really a success story, but as with all VSL libraries -if you have GS3 get the Perf-Leg crossfade patches. Makes Solo Strings even better!

  • good luck with them! a couple of things might help you get to know what you have: the 0Vsus instruments are good for relatively short notes with a fast attack, or any kind of moving line, where the slow onset of vibrato would not be appropriate; also the 0.3 sec and 0.5 sec short notes are very useful, and distinctive from each other. if you are re-recording sequences made with other libraries, expect to find some unwanted accents where your velocities cross the change-of-sample level (33, 65, 96 typically).

  • Thansk, Gugliel. Good info to have. VSL's articulation list is incredible with most of their libraries. Especially Overdrive, Saxophones 1, and Concert Guitar (more chords sampled than I know what to do with!) I'm sure Solo Strings will not disappoint. [:)]

  • Hi unconscious sound,

did you check out the Concert Guitar Tutorial already? From Thomas Meitz personally:
