  • Bösendorfer Imperial Pedal Noise

    Hi,

when I start Bösendorfer Imperial with the default settings, the pedal noises are far too loud. It's most striking for "concert" but the other perspectives are affected as well. The default Pedal Noise setting is -0 dB for all perspectives.

OK, I can easily change the setting, but I still wonder what is going on. The default settings are supposed to work. Is there something broken with my installation?

    Thanks,

    Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

That's how loud the pedal is, in real life. Nothing wrong with your settings. I hope we can get a Preference setting for the pedal noise in a future update, as your request is not unusual.

    Best,
    Paul

  • I can imagine that the default volume of the pedal noise is similar to what a player would hear, but it's a degree of realism that may not (or may!) be useful in making recordings. The ability to change the default would be great!

  • Hi!

Depending on how fast you press/release the pedal the noise level is adjusted, just like with a real piano.
Many pedals, especially the cheaper ones, have only two states (0, 127). With these you'll always trigger the highest velocity (0 -> 127). You can check this by simply looking at the recorded sustain automation. If you own one of these cheaper pedals I highly recommend to ask Santa for a better one with continuos control. This will not only improve the pedal noise, but also add more realism thanks to the half-pedaling feature of the Synchron Player!

    Best, Ben
