[SOLVED] Vienna CPU overload / memory

Hello, I'm new in this community.

I have a problem: When I have a big orchestra (around 60-70 instrument track) playing together my sequencer (Cubase pro 10.5) stop reading sometimes, faders are peaking etc.. I checked the CPU meter, it's not an SSD problem, my CPU is a Ryzen 7 with 24 cores so it should be ok..

I was wondering, I have a good config BUT I do have only 16Go of memory (corsair vengeance, I don't remember the frequency) that I bought in 2016, and I have 24 cores, When I check the task manager while there's the bug it says the CPU is at 90% and same for the memory. I believe my CPU can't treat the data faster enough due to my memory frequency, is it possible?

Hi SC,

It sounds to me that your system is not able to handle your project because you have not enough RAM installed.
I strongly suggest to get at least 32 GB RAM if you are running such big projects.

Also check that the RAM's speed matches your CPU (you can find the optimal speed in reviews and tests about your CPU). Ryzen CPUs are known to only show their full potential at the correct RAM speed.

Btw, Cubase 11 was just released and also includes optimisations for CPUs with more then 8 cores (still, this will not improve your current problem unless you get enough memory).

I just found that my memory was underclocked which doesn't work well with Ryzen 😝 fixed it.
