Cubase 10.5 Pro - Hang

Hello,

I am working on a project with a lot of MIDI tracks and I am experiencing continuous hangs in Cubase every time I move the playback locator back and forth and every time I stop the playback.
I can clearly see the MIDI activity bar moving in all of my tracks and if I activate the MIDI monitor on them, it prints the list of all of the recorded CCs.

Anybody has ever experienced that?
I am using Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 with only Vienna Symphonic Library instruments attached.
Is there a way to prevent this?

I didn't hear about such a problem yet. To get a better picture, please answer the following questions.

- What are your system specifications (OS, CPU, RAM, audio device)?

- What do you mean exactly with "hang"? What exactly happens? Can you still do anything? Do you have to shut down Cubase with the Activity Monitor?

- Does the problem occur with one project only?

thanks for your response.

Here is my hardware:
• iMac 27" 2020
• i9 3.6GHz 10-core CPU
• 128GB RAM
• internal NVMe SSD
• integrated audio device

With "hang" I mean the following:
1. I move the playhead locator to a random location
2. The mouse cursor starts spinning
3. If I try clicking something else nothing happens because Cubase is frozen
4. About 3 seconds later Cubase unfreezes itself and all of the MIDI tracks activity indicator lights up
5. MIDI monitor on every MIDI tracks lists all of the recorded CCs

The problem occurs in all of my projects despite of the buffer size I use.
I have attached a short video showing the issue.

Thanks for the additional information and the screencast. I'm sorry to say that I don't know where such a problem might come from. It doesn't seem to me that this problem is related to Vienna Ensemble Pro. I would ask the Steinberg support team for help.
