Hi Bill,
Thanks for the update!
The Synchron Strings Pro license is a separate license, no collisions with any other license there.
Best,
Paul

VSL really listened to the criticism of the first library. Many common requests were directly addressed in SyS Pro.
Paul, a question: Do we need to keep both libraries on the drive? Are the SyS Pro presets using any of the existing SyS I patches? Is there a list of the re-used patches?
Hi Jimmy,
Happy to hear that you like it.
You can use your libraries as you like, those are independent libraries that complement each other very well. As explained in the videos and on the website, a few articulations (some shorts, trills, tremolos, pizzicato...) have been taken from Synchron Strings I, apart from that, it's all new recordings.
We have poured everything we have learned from the successful Big Bang Orchestra Series into the recordings of Synchron Strings Pro, with a focus on playability and an economic footprint, while establishing musical possibilities that simply were not available before.
Synchron Strings I has more dynamic depth in terms of velocities, but it was quite a different recording approach back then.
We believe that we are getting closer to the demands of modern composers with this new approach.
Best,
Paul
Wow. VSL is relentless. Congratulations.
A question of size: my Synchron Standard Strings I is 291.15 GB (VSL lists it at 255.7 GB). Synchron Strings Pro is reported at 122.7 GB. What accounts for the difference?
Also, am I correct that Synchron Strings I's Cantabile and Lyrical still stand apart from Synchron Strings Pro, or do they appear under a different heading in this new library?
I'll say it again: this is amazing.
Certainly wasn't expecting this beautiful production. Very well done VSL!
And now my purchasing and construction plans are all back in the pot again!
I must admit I wasn't looking forward to using the transpose trick to double the size of my entire SyzDimStr library in order to get the big symphonic orchestra sound. Looks very much like I'll soon be saying "budge over, SyzDimStr, make room for your new colleagues in SyStr.Pro".
Hi,
Thanks for all the kind feedback, we're very happy that this library is received so well.
@plowman: Yes, those cantabile and lyrical legato are only available with Synchron Strings I.
@Macker: Isn't it great how plans are constantly changing?
Best,
Paul
EDIT: My mistake, we have implemented the Cantabile Legatos in SY Strings Pro, but we have changed the name, to better fit in the concept: "Cantabile Strong" is now "Molto Vibrato", "Cantabile Light" is the "Regular Vibrato".
Hi VSL / Paul,
Thank You for developing Synchron Strings Pro.
I'm surely buying it, and have decided not to bother installing Synchron Strings I, which I had deleted a long time ago (was not happy with the library).
I think Synchron Strings Pro will be perfect for my needs, since it has a lot of what Synch.Strings I offered , but greatly improved, and has a lot more new articulations.
Now, I'm just trying to decide if I need Synch. Strings Pro Full or Standard version, I know I can purchase Standard first, then upgrade to full version if I feel I need the extra mics.
Any reason I should just go for the Full version of SSPro instead of Standard right away ? will I get a nicer, fuller sound by combining the mics of the Full version ? or any other detail that the Full version will offer that makes the strings sound better, richer, ... etc ?
Thanks,
Muziksculp
Hi David,
"Synchron Strings Pro" because it really is more than just a second part for Synchron Strings I.
Synchron Strings Pro is a fresh approach and also contains some articulations from Synchron Strings I, which makes it an independent product AND and upgrade/crossgrade from Synchron Strings I at the same time.
You are correct about CC2, but that should be done with a click. Hope that's OK for you, we're trying to keep the preset list as lean as possible!
Best,
Paul
Hi Muziksculp,
I think that our upcoming demos and videos will help you with that decision.
You cannot go wrong with the Standard Library, and if you hear something that really enchants you about the Full Library Mixes, you know what to do!
Best,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thank You for the feedback.
OK. I look forward to watching your upcoming demos, and videos to make my decision, and Yes, I can always buy the Standard version first, then upgrade to the Full version if I feel I need the extra mics.
Cheers,
Muziksculp

Hi Paul,
congratulations on this release. This looks and sounds very promising!
I can understand that you packaged it this way to give new users a self-contained library without the problems of SYS I.
However, for owners of SYS I who already have a 300GB block on their disk (iwithout using it so far) it would be great if you could release an improved installer for SYS I, that would only install that content (e.g. additional velocity layers) that is not in SYS pro - or even better let the user choose which content of SYS I should be installed. This is particularly important since some of the best content of SYS I (9 velocity layer shorts or the lyrical vibrato that was previously released to improve it) is apparently not part of the "pro" package..
Is this planned?
Cheers
Kai
