  • Vibrato depth in VI Solo Strings I (extended) and Sibelius 8

    Hi,

Is there a way to vary solo string vibrato depth in VI Solo Strings I (extended)? I notice that this seems to happen automatically to some extent depending on articulation and dynamics but there are times, say, when I want a forte cello pitch in the mid register to only have a light vibrato yet the default is often quite heavy and rapid. I know there is non vibrato but this is quite a different sound. The sample set indicated on the website says Solo Strings I extended features 'Sustained with progressive, fading, and without vibrato' but I cannot see a way to trigger 'progressive or fading' specifically - the optimising manual does not mention progressive vibrato for VI Strings.

In general the depth of vibrato can have quite a big effect on the realism of the sound so it would be good to know how to control it better.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Northfield!

With Sibelius and VI Solo Strings you can trigger the progressive vibrato patch with help of a custom cell. How this can be done, is explained in the VSL Integration tutorial:

    Best regards,
