  • question on cpu stuttering [synchron bosendorfer imperial]

    Hi

    I am using iMac 2015,

    • Catalina 10.15.5,
    • 4Ghz quad core
    • i7 intel processor
    • 16g ram
    • Fusion drive

which I believe is way above recommended specs for the instrument. Nevertheless I still get cpu spike everytime I play the notes. tweaking around sample rate and buffer size doesn't do anything.

Is there something I could fix?

Bouncing midi file is seamless though.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

I have no experience with it, but I assume a Fusion Drive is simply too slow. What you need is a real SSD drive with high 64k read times.
If you buy a SSD make sure to format it with AFS or NTFS, FAT32 will result in bad performance.

    Best, Ben

Do you mean HFS or APFS? Or does it not matter?

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David,

Both HFS and APFS will work on Mac. NTFS is the Windows variation..
