  • VEP and Cubase 9-10.5 Hang after its been open a while.

    Hi all,

    I've been having this problem with Vienna Ensemble Pro and Cubase working together for the better part of a few years now and its beyond frustrating.  I was hoping y'all can help.

    When I use VEP (regardless of whether its 6 or 7) on the same Win10 machine as Cubase, it all works well for a while but, at some point, usually after a project has been up for about 24hours or so, one or two of my Vienna Projects within the server project stops responding.  Then when I try to close out of Cubase, both vienna and Cubase hang until I force close Vienna Ensemble after which point, Cubase can close automatically.

    Also, if I don't decouple the instances (the brown button) - saving at this point causes a hang of both Cubase and Vienna as well and only a force close of Vienna causes the computer to resume.

    What I need to do is then force close vienna, then close cubase and reload the whole thing and that always takes a long time and breaks creative flow tremendously.

    Any way to identify the culprit here, maybe by eliminating certain plug-ins?

    Thanks, that's a good Idea.  Do you mean remove all plugins that I have actually loaded? or all plugins because right now I only have Kontakt and Altiverb loaded into the Vienna project. But have others that are in the vst folder that aren't loaded into the project on either the Cubase or Vienna end.

    If it's just Kontakt and Altiverb, I assume that some scripting process goes wrong... 

    Please create a process dump when Cubase and VE Pro hang, please see the following image on how to create a minidump with process explorer:
