  • Sibelius and Synchron Solo Strings

    Hello Andi,

    I read the following:

One of the major improvements is made possible by the Synchron Player’s time-stretch feature. Now you can change vibrato speed in real-time using a MIDI controller! Real-time time-stretching also allows you to change the speed of tremolos, trills, portamentos and glissandos by assigning a CC controller to the Synchron Player’s “Stretch Factor” fader.

Can this feature be used with Sibelius and if so, after assigning a CC controller what would be the next move needed?

    Many thanks.

  • Hello Oceanview!

It's possible to send MIDI CC commands with Sibelius. So the Stretch Factor can be controlled with these commands too.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks Andi,

Can you explain a bit more about how commands do this, or which ones? I don't normally use any CC commands in Sibelius. I think there is a page about CC commands in the Sibelius Handbook but it would be good to have some guidance on how this actually works with the time-stretcher.

    Best wishes.

  • Hello Oceanview,

Here's a list of helpful resources regarding midi CC in Sibelius:

As far as I can see, on the last Synchron-ized Solo Strings, the Stretch Factor is mapped to midi CC 34 (please see enclosed image).

For other Synchron instruments, I do believe you have to map CC34 yourself: I let Andi to show us the right way to do it :)

    Hope that helps!

    Regards and take care,

    Gil.

  • Hello Oceanview and Gil!

A Sibelius command to control the Stretch Factor would look like this:
    ~C34,xx
xx stands for the value. 64 is the default value with no stretching applied.

If you want to add the stretch factor fader to an older preset, you can do as follows:
    - Add Stretch Factor on the CONTROL page and assign a source. I would always use CC34.
    - Add a fader on the PERFORM page and select Stretch Factor.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Andi and Gil - both very helpful, and I'm sure will be useful to others working with Synchron and Sibelius in this way.

    Many thanks!
