Smart Orchestra: Expression or VelXF?

I'm new to the product and am trying to get my head around basic concepts. In the videos there are a lot of references to using VelXF. However, I'm currently playing the full brass section and am looking for something to ride to give me more expressive swells. The VelXF doesn't seem to do anything in this scenario, but Expression does.

When you're playing a passage and are trying to do more expressive playing, is it a different approach between the sections and the solo intruments? What controllers do you "ride" to get the most out of your playing?

I'd be grateful for any advice in this area.

Hi Chris, 

Did you make sure that you have switch Velocity XFade on?

The difference between Velocity Xfade and Expression: Vel FX moves through the recorded velocities (piano to forte), while Expression only takes care of the VOLUME of the played note.

Hmm. That was the fader I was moving but not hearing any results. Does it not work on the brass section and only on individual solo instruments?
