  • Attach Files to Post

    The website instructions say that, to post files in a thread, check "Attach Files to Post" and instructions will follow.

    When I check the box, nothing follows.

    I have tried dragging in PNG, JPEG, and PDF files.  A green plus sign appears, but nothing registers, nothing sticks. Just a blinking cursor.

    Please advise.

  • hi plowman, unfortunately the process is not super intuitive ...
    - post your message;
    - check "Attach files to this post";
    - click "SAVE";
    - select file opens a explorer/finder dialog (sorry for german in my screenshot);
    - see the selected file in input field and click "UPLOAD";
    - check the list of attached files and add further files or delete existing;
    - click "BACK" to return to your post with slected file(s) attached;

    result visible in your post - hth, cm

  • I have a similar question along these lines.  I can attach files no problem but I can't figure out how to make images visible on the post?  For example, I made this post today, and I attached 4 jpg files.  None of them are automatically showing.

    It would be even better if there is a way with a [tag] or something to refer to attached images within the post itself.

  • hi Dewdman42,
    if i understand your request correctly you would like to have images appearing within your post and not at the end as attachment resp. if only one image attached in a preview thumbnail.
    unfortunately the application on which our forum is based does not provide such an option - it would be more the behaviour of a CMS or blog rather than a forum.
    however it would be possible to insert a base64 encoded image within text but i would not recommend it because it would not be auto-scaling and such an image would not appear in your Personal_Files.

  • Well all the other forums I use allow this capability, I would not call that "blog" only.  Its very useful in forum posts to repond with instructions, including images as you go along in the post trying to explain something.  If the system you are using doesn't support that, then it is what it is, but an awful lot of forums do support that, which is why I asked.

    So are you saying that if I only attach a single image, then it will be displayed, but if I attach more then one image, then they will not be automatically displayed at the end?

  • hi Dewdman42,
    thank you for your suggestions - we will put that on our to-do-list though in the end that means we had to migrate to another forum software.
    regarding your question: yes, a single image will display as thumbnail on the bottom of a post. we will take a look if it is atleast possible to do that for all attached images.

  • Thanks!

  • I see that our uploaded attachments are on the MyVSL area under Personal Files...and its possible to link to them in a post, like this:

    https://eu.vsl.co.at/?FileID=215085

    Is there any way to have a linked image show up here in a post?  From there or elsewhere?

  • having already mentioned the appearance of attachments to a forum-post in your personal files i have to add, that because you are the owner of such a file another user can neither download nor display it using the link from MyDownloads ... sorry.

  • ah k...it was worth a try ;-)
