Hello,
As the Holiday Strings Special prices are alive until the end of December, I was thinking of updating my VSL Strings.
Here are the VSL Strings I already owned:
VI Solo Strings I Full
VI Chamber Strings I Full
VI Orchestral Strings I+II Full
VI & Synchron-ized SE (+ con sordino): Solo Strings, Chamber Strings, Dimension Strings, Appassionata
I'm using 90% of the time Sibelius with VSL, going into Logic only for primary ideas and using Logic sounds.
Here are my goals:
- Mockups only (for now)
- Minimum strings section size: 12-10-8-6-4
- Will be played by a real orchestra
- Must be closed to how a real orchestra will sound
- Mainly to be added to rock/pop band
- Sometimes using divisi
- Rarely using con sordino
I'm not a mixing guy, I own MIRx and don't plan to go to MIR 24/Pro.
As good as they are, I don't think Chamber Strings will suit my needs.
So, should I get (multiple answers possible):
1. VI Dimension Strings
2. Synchron-ized Dimension Strings
3. Use your VI/Synchroni-zed SE Dimension Strings, it doesn't make so much difference in notation software.
4. Nothing, wait for Appassionata special price and/or Orchestral Strings Synchron-ized :)
Thanks for your helpful thoughts/answers!
Best regards,
Gil.
