  • Best practices to get dynamic Timpani rolls in Sychron sound nice

    Hi there,

I am struggling again with my VSL Synchron percussion Timpani.

Can you maybe share any known best practices how to best treat dynamic rolls in your player? Using one of the pre-recorded dyn. swells is not an option.

I activated the XFade patch and mapped the Xfader to CC1 to control via mod-wheel. Now, when I do a reasonably slow creshendo, this works - say 1 bar at 90bpm.

However, when I try to do the same in a more rapid fashion (e.g. 0-127 in 1/4th of a bar), the dynamics seems to behave much more non-linear compared with the slow CC performance.

Is there anything one can do to improve that?

    Thanks!

  • Here is an example: Playing F#1 (Cubase) for one beat at 77bpm 3/4.

Interestingly engough, there seems to be some RR thingy going on.

If you repeatedly play this back you get an alternating pattern of

    1. one pass with bumps in the fading
    2. one pass with a smooth transition - as it should be

  • And another offender right there: A#1.

But this time bumpy all the way :(
