Hi,
I've been trying Dorico Pro 3 since yesterday, but there is no way I can see my VSL plugins (Vienna Instruments Pro, Vienna Ensemble Pro, Vienna Synchron Player) in the choice of the VST Instruments, in the Play section (only appear DoricoBeep, Groove Agent SE, Halion Sonic SE, Padshop and Retrologue).
On another forum, someone gives me this answer: "If you're running the latest version of Dorico 3.0.10 on macOS, then it's because they changed the vst3scanner for macOS Catalina compatibility. VSL VST3 plugins use aliases for the actual file in the plugin. These need to be changed to the actual file. VSL is working on updating these plugins. It's possible to do this yourself if you're comfortable with manipulating packaged files. You'll also need to delete the local preferences files in VSTAudioEngine3 folder. This folder has a blacklist file that needs to be regenerated after the plugins get updated."
I'm not comfortable at all with "manipulating packaged files"... Any idea when these updates will be ready? My Dorico trial will only last a month...
Thanks a lot,
Benjamin

Hello Benjamin!
Vienna Instruments Pro is not available as VST3-Instrument. Vienna Ensemble Pro and Synchron Player should be available, as soon as they are installed. I would try re-installing them. You can find the latest software versions here:
https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Software_InstallersDoes that help?

Thank you Andi. I only bought one license of Vienna Ensemble Po, installed on my iMac, and I will be working on my labtop for a few days, so can't try to reinstall VEP right away. But I'm pretty sure on my iMac the last VEP is installed. I will try to reinstall it in a couple of days but I doubt it will work... Can't you tell me more about this alias thing? Seems like if one localize the real files and replace them in the plug-in directory Dorico can at last see them. Or tell me more about an updated version of it which could be scanned by Dorico, just like you did with Synchron player-which does appear, now, in Dorico, since I downloaded the updated version? Thanks, Benjamin

Hello Benjamin!
As far as I know, the workaround you are writing about is only necessary with Catalina. As you have written that you are using Mojave, I don't think it will be helpful in your case. Does Vienna Ensemble Pro VST3 appear in a different host, if you have one?
Best regards,
Andi

Hi Andi, VEP apperas in Cubase Pro. I sometimes use Sibelius but on a monthly licence when needed, and not at the moment. I wanted to give Dorico a try, but that will have to wait (or I will do it only with Synchron Player, which appears on the list, but many instances of it are so greedy for the computer ressources). Best, Benjamin

Hello Benjamin!
You write that Vienna Ensemble Pro appears in Cubase. But does Vienna Ensemble Pro /// (VST3) appear in Cubase? For now I can only repeat that I would try to re-install Vienna Ensemble Pro. Make sure that VST3 is selected for installation during the installation process.
Best,
Andi
