    Hello,

    I decided to update to some of the synchron-ized special editions.  After downloading the samples and directing the installation path, I saw the notice that says:

    ATTENTION:  Vienna Synchron sample content needs to be installed on SSD!

    Would this pertain just to the samples that are actual synchron samples, such as the piano and synchron drums included with the SE's, or is it also the synchron-ized files too?  

    If the SSD pertains ony to the actual synchron files, could I elect not to install them at this time, and still install the synchron-ized files on my 7200 rpm sample drive?

    I was not aware of the necesseity of the SSD - not blaming anyone - just myself for not catching it.  

    So, in short, just watned to know if I could install the synchron-ized files on my standard sample hard drive, or if I need an SSD for everything in the SE's.

    In short: you can try it and if it works for you it is fine. But if it is far from the best experience you can have. The loading times alone are reason enough to get a SSD imo.

    Meh, people are way too impatient. Ive been using them on a 2 tb spinning disk and it works just fine. Only load times that are pretty darn lengthy is dimension strings synchron and the steinway synchron. The others are significantly smaller and load relatively quick. I use this one drive ONLY for Vienna libraries and EastWest creative cloud libraries and anytime a new library is installed, I do a tight defrag of the drive using disktrix ultimate defrag to keep performance as good as possible, and this also forces the content on the drive to be rewritten periodically, preventing the so-called "bit rot" condition that drives can develop when data sits for too long in one location.

    I can load a full Synchron special edition blank template (not counting the dimension strings / dimension brass / historic winds / piano) in around 8 minutes using the plus edition varity of instruments. Synchron shows about 12 gb of data loaded when the template finishes, again, not counting the items mentioned in parenthesis. If I add those, the memory footprint and load time doubles.

    Of course, I dont typically write for a full orchestra so I dont load a full blank template, I usually load instruments as I need them and its probably around 20-30 seconds per instrument to load one isntrument.

    Hi, 

    This message will be altered with the next version of Synchron Player. The automatic speed scan allows for the correct Preload settings and works with fast HDDs as well.

    I have Smart Orchestra and haven't been able to use it because I have a fusion drive, and get frequent dropouts. I'm not sure if there's a way to configure it so that it is usable. I too didn't see the SSD requirement until after purchasing.

    So, I am avoiding all things Synchron until I can figure out how to get Smart Orchestra to work reliably with a fusion drive.

    What does your Database Speed Readout say? What happens if you increase this number manually?

    How do I find and do that?
