  • Synchronized Appassionata Strings / Soundset in Sibelius?

    Hi,

I recently got the synchronized Appassionata Strings. Problem is, while I find all the SYzd Dimension Instruments in the VE-Strings Setting since I bought them, there are no Sychronized Appassionata Instruments appearing to choose from, still only the "normal" Appassionata Instruments (screenshot). They, though, seem not to work properly, as everything is every note is played in fortepiano in the Synchron Player (where I can choose the Syncronized Appassionata Strings without a probem, so they are installed properly in my library and directory manager).

I was expecting to be able to choose SYzd Appassionata Instruments in the manual soundset like with SYzd Dimension Strings. Do I have my settings somehow wrong? (I am using the latest soundset installer)

  • Hello Johnny!

For the SYNCHRON-ized Appassionata Strings, please use Sibelius Instruments with “[VSL Synchron Strings I]” at the end and Manual Sound Set programs with “Synchron” at the beginning of the name. You can always look up which instruments and Manual Sound Set programs to use for the "VE Strings" sound set in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 17.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Andi,

Thanks for your reply. It is working finally, although I had to restart both Sibelius and VE Pro to make it finally work...still wondering why that may be?

While in the process of setting it up, I realized that when I go back to the Instruments section in Sibelius, the names don't show as chosen first, which appears strange to me!? As you can see in the screenshots, the correct instruments where chosen, however when I go back into the menu to re-check, it just says "Violon I" and so on instead of the Violin (VSL Synchron Strings). If this is normal, it makes it somehow difficult to check later, which Instruments where chosen in the first place, no?

PS: Is there a reason behind, why there are "SYzd Dimension Strings" to choose from in the soundset, but not accordingly "Syzd Appassionata Strings" (but "Synchron Violin" instead?)

  • Hello Johnny!

It's true that the full names of the instruments, that you have chosen originally, don't get shown later in the Sibelius "Add or Remove Instruments" menu. Why it is this way can only be ansered by the Sibelius team.

SYNCHRON-ized Appassionata Strings have the same structure as Synchron Strings. That's why the same programs on the Manual Sound Sets page can be used. SYNCHRON-ized Dimension Strings have a slightly different structure. That's why separate instruments and programs on the Manual Sound Sets page are needed.
