Thank you so much for this update. The Legato patches are beautiful.

Have VSL a support ? Where I can get support ?
Installing the VSL Sync Library update "Cantabile Games," does not allow installation. The following error message is displayed; "Application 'Library Installer' caused the following error:
The program 'Synsopos.app' could not be started. The file is probably corrupt or incompatible, or the file permissions are incorrect.
Please download and install the latest version of the 'eLicenser Control' from this web page:
<Http://www.eLicenser.net>
options:
- Click <Ok> to finish. "
How can this be corrected .....?
Thank you for this free update, VSL!
I like the new patches and now with the editing of the existing ones, there should be enough options and variation for everyone to choose from and get the desired results.
@basses: IMO these were never the problem, so the update pretty much does it as far as the legato issues go. I also don't think that a "cantabile" playing style for basses is particularly high on anyone's list of priorities 😃
If I was to pick one more thing as a future improvement, I would suggest re-doing be the sforzato/fortepiano patches. Especially the sforzato in its current state really doesn't sound very musical. I believe the normal "short" articulation was used to crossfade into a long note to create these, and the result sounds quite artificial and jarring. The attack is too short and percussive, so when the sustained portion of the patch comes in, it's very obvious and disconnected and you can tell that you're hearing two sounds which do not belong together at all. A "true sforzato/true fortepiano" note would be much better, or at least a more realistic sounding attack recording crossfading into a long note.
+1

Did you install the latest updates of the Vienna Download Manager, the Synchron Player and the e-Licenser ?
Hello. Same installation issue as mailrob. Everything up to date. Everything else works...except for frequent crashing and freezes with VEP7. : )
Roland
Resolved: Installed files directly using Synchron Library Installer as suggested by garylionelli. Thank you Gary!
Same probem. Everything up to date, but says could not initialize eLicenser.
Update: got it to install by booting the Libraryy Installer app and manually installing it rather than the auto-install that wasn't working in the Download Manager.
Very nice update , nice legatos !
when do you think we'll get portamento legatos ?? that seems to be lacking .
Also better matrix design to give us things like slurred legato Xfade Vib and portamentos ( when they arrive ) triggered at low velocity and normal leg xfade at higher velocity etc.
the interface is rather cumbersome for setting up those kinds of intuitive articulation switching ( i find )
Hi Paul,
Good question about those portamentos, they are not planned in the near future.
My suggestion is to mix other libraries in for that purpose, like the Dimension Strings (portamentos are already available in SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 5, for eample). Adding just one desk to each section and featuring them prominently in the mix will get you great results.
Sllurred Legato Xfade vibrato is probably something that can be built - I will look into that.
Best,
Paul
Paul,
Yes you are right. Mixing the Synchron strings with older libraries using the portamentos sounds great.
This works best when you use the VI Version (Lots of VI library sample choices) of Synchron I strings (close mic). You can make wonderful sounding matrixes using VI Pro (and MIR giving multiple rooms). While the Syncronized string library versions have less choices of samples.....and you only have 1 room choice.
Thank you,
Eloy
The cantabile patches sound beautiful in the demos! Much respect.
I have a question, one that someone who has experience using the library hopefully has an answer to:
Are there any clips or demos of how the new standard legato transitions sound, specifically the fast variants?
I ask because ambient library legatos tend to suffer from "ambience phasing" that gets really ugly and mushy during quick runs and passages. SyS, with its shorter tail and tighter sound, doesn't seem to be poised to suffer from the same issue. However, the demos for SyS tend to be either dark and moody, sweeping and emotional, or playful and moderate tempo.
In short, how does the library - with its new updates - fare with lightning quick string parts, such as the ultra fast string passages from Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream Overture? The smooth ppp dynamics of the library interest me for the potential realization of these kinds of passages...
Thanks!

Thats good, I can install it now, too.
Good idea ....
I'm having the same problem.
Can someone walk me through the manual install? Does that just mean you click the install button instead of having the auto-install box checked? If that's the case, I'm still getting the same error message.
eLicenser, Vienna Download Manager, etc are all up to date.
Hi Stephen,
It should definity work with the new Download Manager.
Manual installation:
Launch the "SYNCHRON Library Installer" you find in your latest Synchron Player software.
Point it to the "package.info" file in your downloaded sample content, this will start the installation process.
Best,
Paul
