About Synchronized Dimensions Strings

Hi everyone, I already have all the three domension strings for ViPro and I am totally happy with them. I would like to know, expecially from who has both the versions, if it's worth it or not and what are the main difference (playability, dynamics or everything could be interesting...). Hi Nicoloa,

there is no difference in the samples. The changes made in the Syn version are available as update for the VI version as well (look in MyVSL).

The main differences with the Syn version is:

• Included reverb, panning (different presets), but you can disable that and use the dry sound like in the VI version
• matching volume with all Synchron / Synchronized instruments
• ready configured Violin II section
• new and modern player with some additional cool features (but things like auto-divisi and sample stretching is still not implemented)

In short: the Syn version is ready to use: Just load the instrument and start composing / programming.
Is the upgrade worth it? If you have problems finding the correct panning and reverb settings or don't have the time to tweak them, it's imo definitely worth it. The included IR reverb is just perfect, and it uses less CPU power compared to MIR Pro.

Hi Ben, Thanks for the reply. I ask this because in chamber strings I noticed that legato in Synchron version is much smoother than in the ViPro version, while you have, unfortunately, less articulations available.

You will get all articulations as in the VI version. As I already wrote, you can download the latest update for the VI version that will give you all sample improvements in the VI version as well.

Is the dry sound centered or pre-panned via Synchron?

The panning information is included in the IR. If you disable the IR the instrument is centered.

Sweet.  Synchron Player looks much more adept at handling the unique needs of the dimension libraries than the VI player.  Has this been your experience?

It's nice to know you can get the dry stuff, too.  Here's hoping they add the sequence map, interval map, and time stretching to Synchron in time.

This is my experience after I looked into the SYN. versions of the Dimension libraries:

1. You need less resources then VI + MIR
2. Load times and disk streaming seems better then with VI.
3. The presets are perfect. The included IR is better then what I can achieve with MIR.
4. Everything is well balanced

It makes working with the Dimension libraries more fun. You spend less time to set everything up without loosing control over the library. As soon as have some time I plan to add the Synchronized Dimension Strings to my template. After that I don't know if I ever touch the VI Dimension isntruments again.

Good to know, thank you.  It helps inform me of which version of Dim. libs to buy once I got the $$$$$.
