On a Macbook Pro I am using VSL SE Vol I+ and II+ with Sibelius Ultimate and VE Pro 6 latest build. Working on an orchestral piece using Orchestral Strings + (violins, violas, celli, basses). Until recently all was fine, but now for some reason when specifying "pizz." in the score I am getting snap pizzicato in the instruments (violas and celli). Now, I can change the snap pizz cell to ordinary pizz in the articulations matrix, but I might use snap pizz in the future and besides, all was working normally before. I reloaded the Sibelius map from MyVSL, made sure the style template and dictionary entry (pizz. = +pizzicato) were both correct, but still "pizz." gives me snap pizz. Help!

Technique Mapping Incorrect

Hello rampley!
It can have different reasons, why articulation changes don’t work as supposed. All possible reasons that come to my mind are listed in the Troubleshooting chapter of the “Optimizing Sibelius Playback” manual. So I recommend going through this chapter point by point.

Thanks. The solution came from the recommended document: "In the Sibelius mixer, choose the Vienna Ensemble instance (Initial Playback device) for the string instruments manually." As nearly as I can tell these settings became corrupted during a software update of Sibelius Ultimate. Whew!
