  • Beyond starter editions

I have Vienna Instruments Pro player and Starter editions 1, 1 plus, 2 and 2 plus, but what are these starter editions a start to?  i.e. what is the next step up?  Is it the VI Series which also uses the VI Player?  Is it Synchron with Synchron player?  Can the Synchron player be used at the same time as the VI player?  Are the VI series and Synchron series the only two routes onwards?

    Regards, Richard.

  • Hi Richard,

Q: "but what are these starter editions a start to? i.e. what is the next step up? "
A: They are the starters for the VI instrument collection. If you buy these or the single instruments you will get a small discount because you already have the starters.

Q: "Is it the VI Series which also uses the VI Player?  Is it Synchron with Synchron player?"
    A: VI Player

Q: " Can the Synchron player be used at the same time as the VI player?"
A: Yes, but the Synchron player is for instruments from the Synchron series, and the VI player for instruments from the VI series.

Q: "Are the VI series and Synchron series the only two routes onwards?"
A: Yes, but the upgrade price discount is for the VI series.

    Best, Ben

  • There's also the Dimension series.

Those "Starter editions" were created when the only way forward was the VI series but I'm not sure they're necesarily a prerequisite to the VI series.  I though they were designed to be a more affordable option to The Cube and the bundles.  Also, they're less CPU intensive and memory hogs so they could work on laptops and such.

  • Thank you for showing me the way forward.  I see the Dimenson strings and brass belong to the VI series.

Dimension strings appears to be groups of players.  Synchron strings has selectable microphone positions.  Is this the fundamental difference?

    Regards, Richard.

  • correct. Also all isntruments from the VI serieas are as dry as the Starter Edition. The Synchron Series was recorded wet in the Synchron Hall, the Synchronized Instruments are reworked instruments from the VI series that have matching Synchron IR, so they match to the Synchron Strings.
